Latest issue of Scotland Outdoors

The autumn issue of Scotland Outdoors (£3.80) is available in store until the end of November and is full of inspiration for anyone who is enthusiastic about Scotland’s wild places.
Produced by local Peebles company Big Bend Publishing this high quality quarterly magazine features a broad range of outdoor interest articles with the common theme of celebrating Scotland’s outdoor environment.

This issue includes an exploration of the temperate rainforest clinging to the shores of Ardnamurchan’s Loch Sunart; six adventurous scrambles on Scotland’s airiest ridges; a tour of Glen Lyon in Perthshire and a feature on a non-indigenous mink management scheme in the Western Isles.

Surprise return of The Angry Corrie

It's not often that a brown envelope contains a pleasant surprise- but yesterday one arrived at the Peebles shop that did. Totally unexpected Issue 78 of The Angry Corrie, Scotland's self-styled "first and finest hillzine". We'd got used to the sporadic nature of the issues but with the previous one being published in Spring 2010 we had assumed that Murdo Munro had hung up his bobble hat and TAC had quietly retired. It's sometimes nice to be wrong- so The Angry Corrie is available again, with the familiar mix of hill news, access issues and list-ticking at only £1 a copy.

Big Things in Peebles for our Birthday Weekend

It's our Peebles store's birthday tomorrow (we'll be 22 years young) and, as is becoming traditional, we've got a long weekend of offers available to celebrate and to kick start your Christmas shopping. We'll be open late tonight while the town Christmas Lights are switched on and there are 20% OFF deals to be had throughout the store until Tuesday
If you need any more excuses to visit Peebles this weekend we can highly recommend the community art event Rapt in Winter being held in local galleries all over the town. You can view their beautiful map here and find out more about the artists and galleries involved via  the event website and Richard Rowe's blogs There'll be live music throughout the town too Last but not least the regular local Food Market is running all weekend with additional hot food from The Restaurant at Kailzie Gardens
