Summer 2011 Issue of Scotland Outdoors now available

The keenly awaited Summer 2011 issue of Scotland Outdoors is now available in the Peebles branch and features the usual inspiring mix of activity ideas and conservation issues.
However, we probably can't give you an impartial review of this issue as we have contributed to it. Our daughter is pictured on page 1, bouldering in Sutherland and again in the article on Family Friendly Outdoor Adventures. An overview of the full issue is available on the Scotland Outdoors website here, together with a downloadable pdf of the Capers with Kids article (It's our kids dangling off Heather Hat Boulder in Glen Nevis on the website banner too).

Other articles include a portrait of the isle of Rona – a secluded getaway off the coast of Skye undergoing something of an ecological renaissance and visits to Kilmartin Glen and Loch Ness. The magazine takes a look at the secret world of the basking shark; and at efforts to broker a lasting peace between the threatened hen harrier and those who manage grouse moors.

Finally there's also an opportunity to enter a competition for the chance to win a weekend outdoor photography workshop with Lightstalkers Scotland.

It probably wasn't the kind of gathering Bonington was used to speaking to but his professionalism and communication skills ensured that his stories came alive for everyone in the room. At the end of the presentation we joined the scrum of autograph hunters and got his signature on a poster which we hung in our new shop on the day it opened. It stayed on the wall for quite a few...
