Some Early Closing in Peebles in August

Aggh! Sometimes the fact that we're a family business can cause problems, particularly if there's a family event that needs everyone to attend. Can't think of the last time it's happened but unfortunately we've got two in August (the 10th and the 24th). As a result the Peebles store will be closed early on those Wednesdays. Half day closing is something we haven't done since the 1990's- so last century! We apologise for the incovenience- all our other hours remain unaltered.

From the Forest to la Forêt

Some of us are lucky enough to be swapping the forests of the Tweed Valley for a climbing trip in la forêt de Fontainebleau next week which is leaving everybody else a bit stretched. To help out, we are reducing the opening hours in the Peebles store a little between 10th-17th October. Details are on the poster below

Peebles Store CLOSED Saturday 20th June for Beltane Festival

It's that time of year again..... the flags are up and the townspeople are out enjoying the Beltane Festival. In common with many businesses in Peebles we'll be closed on Saturday 20th June. Here's hoping that the weather improves a bit and that the sun shines on this year's Beltane Queen Emma Latto

Store opening hours over Bank Holiday Weekend

For one day only our Peebles store will close early. On Saturday 23rd May we will be shut at 3:30pm with opening hours resuming as normal on Monday 25th May.  Meanwhile our Harrogate staff will be taking the opportunity of the Spring Bank Holiday to get out and about themselves and consequently the store there will be closed on Monday 25th May. Here's hoping for some decent weather and hoping that you all have time to enjoy some outdoor adventures too.

Peebles Outdoor Film Festival 13th-15th February

Peebles Outdoor Film Festival started last night with a quartet of short films and a talk and film by cyclist Rob Jarman. The festival continues all weekend with events on Saturday and Sunday and tickets are still available at www.eastgatearts.com . You can view the full programme here . With such a wide range of events there's bound to be something to interest every outdoor enthusiast. We're working today and sorry to be missing the talks by Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team , Borders doctor Andrew Murray and this evening's cycling themed films. But we are looking forward to heading down tomorrow to hear global adventurer Alastair Humphreys talk about the inspiration behind his Microadventures   and hoping to be inspired for some adventures of our own. Sender Films' Valley Uprising is also on our must-see list. It's been picking up awards at film festivals all over the world (including Edinburgh Mountain Film Festival last weekend) and its exploration of the deve...

Business as Usual during Cuddy Bridge Closure

There are major roadworks in the centre of Peebles scheduled to begin on Monday 26th January and lasting for up to 4 weeks (though we've got everything crossed that they will be over and done within a shorter time period) Click here to view the closure plan in more detail The Cuddy Bridge will be shut to vehicles from the bottom of Elcho Street Brae to the mini-roundabout at the end of the High Street. We've been assured that pedestrian access will be available at all times . If you are coming in to Peebles from Edinburgh, Galashiels or the south side of the river you will be able to reach either the East Station Car Park or Kingsmeadows Car Park by the normal routes but you can expect much heavier traffic at some of the junctions. The fun starts if you are approaching the town from the west with a substantial diversion around the Old Town in place (marked in red on the map) We've been advised that access in to Greenside Car Park will be maintained from the foo...
